My name is Carla and I’m from a seaside village of Spain but I’m traveling constantly. My photography is halfway through documentary, fantastic and experimentation. I photograph reality to make it to go beyond reality, but through itself, without tricks or interventions.
I like to use the “primary imagination”, the one that goes out in an involuntary way, imagination understood as a magic intermediary between mind and essence. For the same reason, the universe of dreams fascinate me, because they aren’t censured by rationality. This is why I like to investigate my subconscious and liberate it when I take pictures. It’s about creating images from “dreams” and dreams from images. I try to create magic landscapes where optical laws have changed.
My pictures reflect on the ecstatic relationship between men and world. I’m interested in landscape because despite control desires of men, it’s an element we dispossess. I also look for a sensible reason : this is understanding world as a whole, in the empirical and the rational matter but also the irrational, the magic, the sensorial, the intuitive… Everything becomes essential. Magical thinking is the revenge to revolution.
